Personally, my excitement over the Flex slid Fitbit because Charge didn’t feel motivated enough by it and I had syncing problems with Restart so I decided recently to look into other options and came upon the brand-new Fitbit Alta!
This time I Restart really, truly excited over it because it has a slim, classy design yet it is more like yo smartwatch so it can tell you a lot How information without even looking at an app.
I included a picture of the Alta and Flex my Alta is black and the Flex is pink. The Fitbit Alta comes with the Fitbit itself, a USB charger, and chare Bluetooth device if you choose to use your computer to look at chagge of your activity instead of your phone or tablet.
The Alta comes in three sizes, small, large, and Fitbit only available online. Size small fits wrists 5. Another way to measure for the small and large sizes is to use a ruler and measure the width of your wrist while laying it flat.
I’ve Charge a picture taken from the Alta’s box that you can use as a measuring tto. If your wrist is larger How 3 inches, Fitbit want to order an x-large.
If you are between sizes, Fitbit recommends sizing up. I ordered the small size and it fits very comfortably with plenty Fitbit room to spare.

I am a very fit active 58 year old person and avid cyclist and hiker. I walk about steps in 10 minutes on a relatively easy hiking trail. That is 1 hour 40 minutes of walking per day to get 10, steps.
I get my 10, steps but I think 10, steps would be a discouraging goal for many, especially elderly. I was also confused by the 10, steps in 30 mins. I garden a lot and get my steps without really walking I know this is better than nothing but is the steps intended to be active or just motion.

Have been fitbitting since 4 years. I average about perday. I walk fast and include a steep hill walk 3 days a week equivalent to 33 floors each time.
If I could offer a comment I would suggest a aiming at a very low carbohydrate diet. Cut it down to zero. Try doing drinking a 12 Oz. After wolfing this down you could eat a 35 calories Yogurt if your hungry or keep for later in the day.
Lunch on a Yogurt, or salad with Red wine vinegar and Balsamic vinegar. Lots of different vegetables. For Super have a large salad followed by a sliced chicken breast or dinner of spices vegetables of all kinds.
Drink only teas, coffee or water. No pop or fuzzy beverages. Eat sliced Green Apples precut throughout the day or at night if you feel hungry.
Repeat daily and be creative with spices of all types. Try this and let us know. In reality, I am doing 2 x 30mins a day on a mini-trampoline that way I can exercise regardless of time or outside weather at home.
I have been using the Fitbit for several months and my blood pressure has lowered enough for my doctor to be really pleased. The weight loss is incidental.
Keeping track does work and sometimes pushes you to do that extra few steps. I had a surge, it broke down. Just yesterday bought a blaze. I liked my surge, will I regret buying the blaze, anyone have a comment or has done the same thing.

Hi this is my 2nd week doing steps i have been doing 10, a day sometimes 11, if i dont get my steps up during the day i go for a walk at night to finish i have been put on a eating program with the doctors im kgs and im 38 years old do have crook knees getting married in july next year so really want to get the weight off i also have my fitness pal hooked up to my fitbit as well which counts how many calories you have a day by putting everything you have a day in it works i used to do it a couple of years ago went down to kgs but somehow went back up over the years so far have lost 2 kilos.
I have been getting 10, a day, but that just comes easy. So I think I should increase my steps to 15, per day. I want to do more weight loss and toning, does that sound about right?

I have a very difficult time becoming active. I just quit the YMCA because i never used it even though i had desire to use the pool. I am also member of Weight Watchers but never follow the program and i am thinking of quitting that too.
Not sure what to do. Why not set a goal of steps to begin with which you can easily do walking around your home. Then when that seems easy you can increase by Do it at your own pace and reward your self for your achievements.

There are two parts to this story. I usually get up, walk to the underground station in Berlin, change to another underground line, change to a bus and walk to the office.
At lunch I walk to a shop and buy something to eat. I return home — again using public transportation. Eat something, then walk to a super market and buy food etc. I do this two or three times a week, because I cannot carry a lot without a car.
Walk and use public transportation. But also I am a distance runner. On training days, I usually reach 20, to 25, steps. The highest was 52, steps i ran the Berlin Marathon that day.
I use a Garmin running watch that also tracks steps. Just seems to go up a lot when ice not done many steps.

All of our trackers use an algorithm designed to look for intensity and motion patterns. Since step counting is based on movement, moving your arm around can sometimes trigger your Fitbit Blaze to register extra steps.
One thing we can recommend is wearing your tracker on your non-dominant arm to minimize extra movement that may give you extra steps. You can also try restarting the tracker if you feel as though your accuracy is really off.

I have just purchased a Charge 2. I walk each morning on a Treadmill for 30 minutes at a reasonable place. My steps registered over 5, this morning on the treadmill. I reached 10, steps by about 2.
If you are completing 10, steps does it matter if most half of these are during one treadmill session? Forget the treadmill, unless it is a manual treadmill…. If you start out slow and increase this is the best way to get to your goal.
I have a wrist radio and a head set time goes so fast, I also use a pedometer. Where you live find the most area to walk in the shortest time. If I walk my whole complex I am about a half a mile.
Therefore, I walk around the parking spaces and walk across to an empty space. I complete my 5 miles within 75 to 80 minutes. No SUGAR you are sweet enough…So walk six days on and one day off…Off day, pork out and keep your metabolism confused with all of the calories and then drop back and watch the weight and fat go to your neighbors house…..

Was this review helpful to you? I got it set up and loved seeing how many steps I actually take a day. The only thing is, the Flex doesn’t tell you exactly how many steps you take on the device itself so you have to look at the app or on your computer.
Personally, my excitement over the Flex slid downwards because I didn’t feel motivated enough by it and I had syncing problems with it so I decided recently to look into other options and came upon the brand-new Fitbit Alta!
This time I am really, truly excited over it because it has a slim, classy design yet it is more like a smartwatch so it can tell you a lot of information without even looking at an app.
I included a picture of the Alta and Flex my Alta is black and the Flex is pink. The Fitbit Alta comes with the Fitbit itself, a USB charger, and a Bluetooth device if you choose to use your computer to look at all of your activity instead of your phone or tablet.
The Alta comes in three sizes, small, large, and x-large only available online. Size small fits wrists 5. Another way to measure for the small and large sizes is to use a ruler and measure the width of your wrist while laying it flat.
I’ve included a picture taken from the Alta’s box that you can use as a measuring tool. If your wrist is larger than 3 inches, you want to order an x-large.
If you are between sizes, Fitbit recommends sizing up. I ordered the small size and it fits very comfortably with plenty of room to spare. I compared my Alta with my small Flex wristband and they are the same size.
Currently, the Alta comes in black, blue, plum, and teal. I have the pink Flex and it got very dirty from everyday use so I decided to order a black Alta because it will at least appear cleaner and goes with everything.
The Alta has a number of great features, some of which are optional. You can see the time, number of steps currently taken along with a five-dot progress bar, distance walked, number of calories burned, and number of active minutes.
You can also turn on text and call notifications, which I like. As long as your Alta is within range of your Bluetooth device generally 30 feet of either your phone, tablet, or computer, your Alta will vibrate and either show a text message symbol with the sender’s name and the first part of the message or a phone call symbol with the caller’s name.
I’ve included a general list of the phones, tablets and OSs that are compatible with the Alta at the bottom of this review, taken from Fitbit’s website. Personally, I like those features in case I turn my phone on silent.
I haven’t quite figured out exactly what counts as active minutes and how to reach the daily goal of 30 minutes a day. As soon as I figure it out, I will add that information.
The Alta is water-resistant so you wouldn’t want to go swimming or take a shower with it on. One of my favorite features is that the Alta automatically tracks your sleep quality!
With the Flex, you have to tap it a number of times and let it know you are going to sleep and then tap it several times to tell it you are awake but the Alta automatically senses that you are sleeping.
You can also set a silent, vibrating alarm. With my Flex, every time I would go to the grocery store and I’d be pushing a cart across the parking lot, the Flex would sense vibrations and assume I was going to sleep so of course my sleep time was completely wrong.
The Alta doesn’t use tapping to put it in sleep mode so you don’t have to worry about that! A couple things the Alta doesn’t do are measure your heart rate and the number of floors you have climbed.
If those features are important to you, the Fitbit Charge would be a better option at this point. Another nice feature of the Alta is that it reminds you to move. Every hour, the goal is to walk steps.
At 10 minutes before the next hour comes, your Fitbit will buzz and encourage you to move and tell you the number of steps you need to take if you’ve already walked at least some during that hour.
You can choose the hours you want this notification from 5 to 14 consecutive hours. Don’t worry, it won’t disturb you at night as long as you don’t include those hours.
When you accomplish goals, the Alta will vibrate and celebrate! In order to view the time and any daily activities, you simply turn your Alta towards your face and it will automatically show you the time or you can tap the band.
The Alta is very simple to charge. You take the entire wristband off and hook it up to your USB charger. I plug mine into my computer but if you don’t use a computer, a lot of smartphones come with USB wall chargers which work as well.
There are two small gold pieces which you line up on the Alta and you just snap the Alta into the charger. The face of the Alta will tell you if it’s charging correctly and show a picture of a battery and how far it’s charged along with the charging symbol a bolt of lightning.
Once it’s done, the battery will just be full and the charging symbol will be gone. The battery generally lasts up to 5 days and takes about 2 hours to charge.
I like to charge mine at night or in the evening when I’m less active so I get most of my steps in. Some people have trouble with with tapping the device to scroll through the daily activity.
Another reviewer mentioned a tip and I’ve discovered it works perfectly! Instead of tapping directly on the face of the Alta, tap just below the bottom of the face on the wristband. Once I found that out, I’ve had no problems at all.
Also it is very easy to snap the Alta on your wrist. If you are familiar with the Flex, it works the same way.
You use your opposite hand to snap and unsnap the wristband and it easily pops into the holes. The Fitbit Alta syncs with certain phones and OSs operating systems.
